THE CLINIC WILL BE CLOSED (NO SURGERIES OR WELLNESS SERVICES) ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17 FOR PARTICIPATION IN "STRUT YOUR MUTT." FOR INFORMATION ON HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT TEAM SNAP, VISIT OUR TEAM PAGE.
We are able to offer high quality, reduced-cost spay-neuter and wellness services by limiting our practice to those areas. If your dog or cat is injured or ill, please take him/her to a full-service veterinary clinic.
Because SNAP’s primary mission is preventing animal homelessness, suffering, and neglect resulting from overpopulation, we require that all animals over six months of age receiving our wellness services be spayed/neutered. We’re here to provide accessible, affordable spay-neuter; if you need more information, please ask us.

The Houston Spay-Neuter and Animal Wellness Clinic now offers identification microchipping. Microchipping is a new technology that can help you get your animal back if he or she ever gets lost. Be sure to ask about having your animal(s) microchipped when you make an appointment for spay/neuter surgery.
Click here to update contact info for your microchip registration(s).
Records for previously performed spay-neuter surgery and wellness services can be accessed 24/7 through PetPortal. See our Online Records Access page to get your records now.
Our clinics need frequent donations of paper towels, laundry soap, and other day-to-day supplies. Please see our Wish List for our current needs.
Reduced cost spay and neuter surgery and animal wellness services are available at the Houston Spay-Neuter and Wellness Clinic. Wellness services include vaccinations, flea and tick preventative, heartworm testing and preventative, and micro-chipping. Wellness clinic services are provided for healthy animals only. We are not able to provide care for sick or injured animals, and we do not euthanize (put to sleep) sick or injured animals. It is very important for animal guardians to establish a relationship with a private veterinarian who provides services for animals when they become sick or injured. By patronizing the SNAP Spay-Neuter and Animal Wellness clinic you enable SNAP to subsidize spaying and neutering for other animals.
SNAP believes that all animals should receive the highest quality veterinary care possible, regardless of whether the services rendered are for free or at reduced-cost. All SNAP facilities use state of the art instruments and equipment. All spay/neuter surgeries are performed by qualified doctors of veterinary medicine, and all animals entrusted to SNAP are attended to before and after surgery by trained veterinary technicians.
Spay-Neuter Surgery: Please call to schedule an appointment for your cat or dog. The Houston Surgery clinic provides service for animals with appointments. Animal intake is between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Please do not be late. Expect a 30 - 40 minute wait as all the animals scheduled for surgery that day are checked-in simultaneously.
Wellness Services: Wellness services are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. No appointment is required. Waiting times can vary, but during peak times, clients can wait as long as 2 hours before a veterinarian can see your animal.
Upon arrival, all dogs and cats should be restrained by a leash or in a carrier. Cats may be contained in a pillow case.
Current rabies vaccination is required for all dogs and cats. If your animal has been vaccinated against rabies, a valid vaccination certificate must be provided. Unvaccinated animals and animals without proof of current rabies vaccinations will be vaccinated against rabies at the owner's expense. Other vaccinations are not required by law but are strongly recommended.
Payment must be made when services are rendered. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and cash. Effective August 1, 2011, the clinic will no longer accept checks for services.
Once surgical procedures are completed and after full recovery from anesthesia, animals are discharged from the clinic the same day as surgery. For the safety of surgery patients, no overnight stays are permitted.
No appointment is necessary. Please arrive between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. and bring the feral cat in a humane trap. (A standard cat carrier or trap will not suffice. If you are not sure what constitutes a humane trap, please contact us before attempting to trap an animal.) Only one cat per trap is permitted. All feral cats will have the tip of their left ear notched while under anesthesia for surgery. Ear notching is an indication that a feral cat has been spayed or neutered.
Should any emergencies or post surgical questions arise, our medical team is on call 24 hours a day. Our Houston/Pasadena medical team may be contacted by dialing 713.255.4151 or 832.801.9476. You may also bring your animal in to any SNAP wellness clinic during regular wellness hours for a recheck, regardless of which clinic did the surgery. (See Houston clinic wellness hours above. See the Pasadena clinic webpage for wellness hours at that clinic.)
NOTE: This number is for post-surgery aftercare ONLY. Please call the surgery clinic at 713.863.0010 during regular business hours for any other information. Free services are not available at this clinic except during special events. Please see our event calendar for information regarding upcoming events.
