Reduced cost spay and neuter surgery and animal wellness services are available at the San Antonio Spay-Neuter/Wellness Clinic. Wellness services include vaccinations, flea and tick preventative, heartworm testing and preventative, and microchipping. Wellness clinic services are provided for healthy animals only. We are not able to provide care for sick or injured animals, and we do not euthanize (put to sleep) sick or injured animals. It is very important for animal guardians to establish a relationship with a private veterinarian who provides services for animals when they become sick or injured. By patronizing the SNAP Spay-Neuter and Animal Wellness clinic you enable SNAP to subsidize spaying and neutering for other animals.
Restrictions: SNAP provides wellness services for altered animals only. Animals one year of age and greater that have not been spayed or neutered are not eligible for SNAP wellness services.
Standard of Care: SNAP believes that all animals should receive the highest quality veterinary care possible, regardless of whether the services rendered are for free or at reduced-cost. All SNAP facilities use state of the art instruments and equipment. All spay/neuter surgeries and wellness procedures are performed by qualified doctors of veterinary medicine, and all animals entrusted to SNAP are attended to before and after surgery by trained veterinary technicians.
What to Expect - Spay-Neuter Surgery: Appointments are required to have your dog or cat spayed or neutered at the SNAP clinic at Ingram Square. Please call to schedule an appointment. All clients need to sign-in when they arrive. Expect a 30 - 40 minute wait as all the animals scheduled for surgery that day are checked-in simultaneously. [NOTE: The SNAP mobile unit still operates on a first-come, first-served basis. See the mobile clinic webpage for more information about our FREE spay-neuter surgery program.]
What to Expect - Wellness Services: No appointment is necessary for wellness services, which are provided on a first-come, first served basis.
Restraining your Animal: Upon arrival, all dogs and cats should be restrained by a leash or in a carrier. Cats may be contained in a pillow case.
Vaccination Policies: Current rabies vaccination is required for all dogs and cats. If your animal has been vaccinated against rabies, a valid vaccination certificate must be provided. Unvaccinated animals and animals without proof of current rabies vaccinations will be vaccinated against rabies at the owner's expense.
